Another quick tutorial, this time on rerolling stats on a legendary item. Enjoy.

#3 On a side note, don’t bother reforging og re-rolling follower gear to get the main stat for the follower class – i.e. the Templar does so little damage that it doesn’t matter if he uses a weapon with int or dex.

You can’t reroll ethereals at all. Can’t reforge with the cube, can’t reroll stats on them. You can’t even transmog them. However they drop, that’s how they are. (you can also only get them via natural drops, you can’t get them via gambling or upgrading rares)

The further two ranks will unlock new sets of properties, with the ultimate rank will grant you a new, random legendary power. You don’t need to do anything beyond what OMG or I suggested, and it’ll reroll the map for you. And no, it’s not temporary. Once you change a map (even for TCP/IP) the original is gone forever, unless you take explicit measures to restore it (restoring a backup, haxxing the -seed command, etc.).
