you can’t, so annoying with races and you make a mistake you have to just loose the long way, i tend to just reload my save data and start again that way, if saints row can contain a restart checkpoint option in the pause menu, I’m sure rockstar can, its lazy on their part.

one guy does the mission, someone joins and spectates. when he’s done he DOES NOT VOTE AT ALL, the spectator can pick restart but he can’t. spectator picks restart, game starts with 2 players. a spectator joins, picks restart, game starts with 3 players. a spectator joins, hit restart, game starts with 4 players.
There’s no restart option for missions (racing counts as a mission), apart from saving before you start and then loading the game.
However, in regards to you forgetting to save before, if you have autosave enabled, just load the autosave and it should load the game before you started the mission, but after everything else (it saves when you complete missions, …
