A server for 20 players is just $15/month. If you’re looking to build a PC to host in your house, It’s going to depend on the above requirements. You can go super cheap or you can get a fully equipped powerhouse for $1,000. A good average is around $500 for a solid PC to run the Minecraft server.

It cost us $40/month for that server. I’d say you could get away with that sort-of setup if you’re running 100% vanilla, and not using any additional plugins, but that’s not likely. Realistically, you should expect to spend more like 50/month for a little extra ram to keep your TPS at 20. –edit – fixed a silly typo–.

Right nothing is free, I get that. But that doesn’t detract from the fact that just to create the server and just run it, Doesn’t cost anything. Yes, with more people using your internet bandwith it will cost more. But that main point is the same. If you make a server, host it it’s free.
