Hey guy’s R4GE VipeRzZ here and today I’m going to show you how you can change the amount of RAM that is allocated to Minecraft.

To change how much RAM “Minecraft” can use, you’ll have to change the settings of your Minecraft Launcher app. The launcher app is the program you use to launch “Minecraft.”

Open your Minecraft launcher and click on the Installations tab. Select the one you want to change the amount of RAM for, click on the … button and then on Edit. Click on MORE OPTIONS and change under JVM ARGUMENT the first number found after -Xmx to the amount of RAM you want, then save.

Open Minecraft launcher. Go to the “Installations” tab. Select the version of Minecraft you would like to change the RAM allocation to, and click on the 3 dots and click “Edit”. Click on “More options” on the bottom. Locate “JVM ARGUMENTS” and find “-Xmx2G”. “2G” represents how much RAM is allocated to the client.

So, if you already have 2GB of RAM allocated to Minecraft, it’ll say “Xmx2G”. To change the amount of RAM, simply replace the number. Save the changes and launch the game.

2GB RAM Example: java -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M -jar [your server file name].jar. You’ll notice all that’s changed is that we’ve added a few things in the middle of the original command. The next step is to substitute the [RAM in MB] parts with, as you may have guessed, the amount of RAM you want to allocate to your Minecraft server in megabytes.

The value you should use depends on how much RAM your laptop or computer has. If you have 4GB or more of RAM, type -Xmx4G into the text box and click “ Okay “. This will allocate 4GB of RAM to Minecraft. If you have less than 4GB of RAM, type -Xmx2G into the text box to allocate 2GB of RAM to Minecraft.
