XL are usually best defenders, because they’re bigger and have higher PS and Defense. XS are smaller and best attackers. They’re usually faster and have higher attack stats.

So imagine the margin between an XL and XS Pokémon. It could be a very big CP difference. And to the above theory that an XL Pokémon requires more stardust and candy – it’s simply not true. I have an XL and regular Venonat at the same spot on the CP meter and they both take 400 stardust and one candy to upgrade.

There was a theory that XL have stronger base attacks and XS can dodge better. But someone has yet to test it.

No.. I got a maxed out Electrabuzz and Pigeot (both are a bit over 1000cp) whereas my tiny not maxed out Vaporeons are at 1250cp and 1500cp. Vaporeons are tiny (XS). I think it us depends on the pokemon but some are obviously stronger than others.
