There were a lot of outfit glitches that happened because you could keep saved outfits while doing the appearance edit glitch so they decided to make all outfits deleted when you change your appearance.
Make sure when your second character is level 6 that you never actually go though with the change characters appearance with it. As long as you never do you can always alter your main characters appearance. I had to do this to fix my character from a glitch when GTAV PS4 launch.
