level 1 · 5 yr. ago Mods were stuck on 1.7.10 for close to a year, so that version still has the most amount of mods. When major mods finally started updating, they skipped 1.8.9 and 1.9.4 and released for 1.10.2, There’re still more mods for 1.7.10 than for 1.10.2 but that margin is getting smaller every day, as more mods are updating.

1.7.10 is still the greatest minecraft version to mod and has the most mods available. Downside most mods are updated with cool new features. Next is 1.12.2 which is the new standard. 1.16.X is on it’s way but because people simply refuse to update it to the newest MC version and add compatibility I doubt it will be the next 1.12.2.
