Why is GTA 4 not on PS4? Unfortunately, you cannot play GTA IV on PS4 because there is no backwards compatibility, but on Xbox One you can. The platforms that you can play GTA IV is on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PS3.

I’m pretty sure GTA IV is only playable on Xbox One bc whoever decides to make last gen games backwards compatible simply chose GTA IV just like any other game, not for a reason very particular to it. Idk if PS4 has any backwards compatibility with 3. If it does then they probably just haven’t chosen it yet.
GTA III, VC and SA on PS4 run on a PS2 emulator. The PS4 can’t emulate the PS3 because of the latter’s complex architecture, so GTA IV would have to be ported to the PS4, which is much more expensive to do. Having said that, they could have put it on the PS Now streaming service. I don’t know why it’s not there.
